- The Rossendale Amateur Operatic
Society was formed in 1934. It has members of all ages, and produces
at least one show annually, taking its material from the entire musical
theatre repertoire.
- Recent shows include Hot Mikado

- Rossendale Amateur Youth Section,
formed in 1992, is the youth section of the society, with performers
age 10-18. RAYS produces one show annually, focusing on material of interest
to young people.
- The last RAYS show was Return to the Forbidden
Planet.

Created in 2002, XRays is the “young adult” section of
the society, with performers age 16-30. XRays produces either a concert or
show annually, and focuses on contemporary and rock-based shows, including
original work.

In November 2008, XRays premiered the new musical
Deedee and the Vampire.
